Thailand FlagWith a well-developed infrastructure, a free-enterprise economy, and generally pro-investment policies, Thailand has been one of South East Asia’s best performers. Export growth from 2005 to 2008 averaged 17.5% annually. Business stability has however been compromised, because of long running political uncertainty culminating in a coup staged against the incumbent Government by the Thai Army in May 2014. General Prayuth Chan-ocha subsequently was appointed interim Prime Minister until elections are held in late 2015.

Trade, Services and Investment

Despite the unrest, New Zealand’s economic links with Thailand have grown rapidly over the last decade.
