philippines flagWith a population in excess of 100 million people, the Philippines, a developing country with a diversified economy, is a growing market. Whilst the Philippines’ government faces significant challenges, economic growth rates have recently been amongst the best in Asia.

Trade, Services and Investment

The Philippines is an important market for New Zealand dairy products. As part of the cooperation package agreed as a side agreement to the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA) New Zealand and the Philippines have developed the Philippine-New Zealand Dairy Project, which will help improve the Philippines dairyphilippines coat of arms capacity and strengthen bilateral ties.

The Philippines is a growing ICT export and import market for New Zealand. New Zealand IT firms are active in network security, productivity and automation, mobile applications, payment/financial systems, and business analytics. Several New Zealand firms have set up back office operations in the Philippines for scalability, expanded market reach and economic reasons.

Air Services is a growing area of cooperation among New Zealand and the Philippines. In early 2014, The Philippines and NZ signed an MOU providing increased and improved Air Services into each country.
