Ashlin Chand currently works as the Policy and Trade Manager at the Meat Industry Association of New Zealand, providing strategic advice on trade, regulation, and sustainability. She is a senior public policy and international engagement professional with over 15 years’ experience across government and industry. Her background includes senior roles at the Ministry for Primary Industries and New Zealand’s Embassy in Beijing, where she led bilateral agriculture cooperation and advised on complex policy issues across China.
She has worked in a number of roles managing high-level government and industry relationships, and advising on complex policy and regulatory issues. Among her trade experience is the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiations and experience working across ASEAN, China, and the EU. In addition to her trade and market access expertise, Ashlin has worked in climate policy, social development, and community safety, and governance experience in the non-government sector giving her a broad and balanced view of the policy landscape. She has undergraduate degrees from the University of Auckland, and post-graduate degrees from the University of Victoria Wellington.
