Nicole Macabullag
Lawyer and Honorary Consul
Although now based in Christchurch, Dunedin is “home”. I graduated from the University of Otago with a double degree in Law and Commerce (Finance and Economics) and went on to complete my Master of Commerce (Banking and Finance) at the University of Sydney. During my studies, I spent some time living in Singapore and was blessed with the opportunity to travel and explore many of our beloved ASEAN member countries. I returned to New Zealand in 2017. I practice as a solicitor at Duncan Cotterill’s head office in Christchurch and work on various construction, commercial and property matters. I also currently serve as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of the Philippines – with jurisdiction across the South Island. I am extremely proud of our Filipino community and am consciously aware that we are one of the fastest growing ethnic communities in New Zealand. Together with our Embassy in Wellington, I manage the Consulate in Christchurch and work closely with the Philippine Trade and Investment Centre in Sydney on various economic policies and cross border investment opportunities.
